2016: Moving Forward
the Biodiversity Agenda
World Environment Day Roundtable

This year World Environment Day Roundtable will focus on the preparations of three major meetings addressing global biodiversity governance and pressing conservation challenges. The high level panel will also discuss synergies and coordination among biodiversity-related MEAs.

IUCN Congress

The IUCN World Conservation Congress 2016 will take place from 1-10 September in Honolulu, Hawai. The Congress meets every four years and will focus on the theme "Planet at the Crossroads".

CITES COP17

The seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP17) will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa from 24 September - 5 October 2016.

CBD COP13

The thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 13), will take place in Cancun, Mexico, from 4 - 17 December 2016. Held back-to-back with the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP 8), and the second meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (COP-MOP 2)..
